Simulate Menu
The K-O Simulator allows high-speed evaluation of counting,
playing and betting strategies over a large number of hands. When
the simulator is invoked, K-O uses the current rules and playing
strategies entered by the player, along with a specified number
of hands, and then begins a high-speed background simulation.
A minimum of about 200,000 hands are needed to get a decent
idea of how well a particular strategy performs although a million
hands or more are needed to get truly accurate data. K-O can simulate
one million hands in less than a minute depending on the complexity
of the strategies used and the options selected.
The top 1/3rd of the simulator screen shows the rule options set (e.g. decks, doubling, etc.). The middle 1/3rd of the screen displays the strategies used for each active player. Note: the simulator will simulate for both human and computer players. To remove a player from the simulation, set the player to None on the Players menu. The bottom 1/3rd of the screen displays the simulation results including ending bankroll, total won, total wagered, and strategy value. The key stat is the strategy value percentage which indicates the percentage won divided by the amount wagered. Using pure basic strategy and flat betting this percentage will usually be a minus 1% to a minus 2% (depending on the house rules). A good strategy will yield a plus 1.5% to a plus 3% meaning that the player wins 1.5% to 3% of the amount wagered.
To run a simulation, simply enter a desired number of hands in the Number of Hands text box and click the Run It button. After the simulation has run, the results will be displayed in the lower 1/3rd of the screen. Also, the simulation Hand and Count stats can be viewed by selecting the View Hand Stats and View Count Stats buttons respectively.
The Output Printed Text and Output Spreadsheet buttons will dump the simulation run output to a text file. The spreadsheet output is tab delimited which is compatible for input to most spreadsheet programs (e.g.MS-Excel, Lotus).
